Summit Rainforest & Golf Resort

Summit Rainforest & Golf Resort operates an 18-hole championship course built in the 1930s for residents of U.S. military bases and Panama Canal workers, set within Camino de Cruces National Park between Metropolitan and Soberanía national parks. The course occupies land that once carried Spanish gold trains in Colonial times. You can watch the Panama Canal Railroad cross the fairway during play. The resort runs a butterfly farm, a frog farm, an animal rescue and rehabilitation centre, and walking trails that pass through forest habitat used by over 1,000 bird species migrating through the region each year. Two outdoor pools and a daily activities programme of treasure hunts, bonfires, bingo, karaoke, and outdoor film screenings operate on-site.

Rooms face the golf course, rainforest canopy, pool, or bridge. Each holds a 42-inch television, air-conditioning, coffee maker, and bathroom with spa-stone flooring. Rainforest- and golf-view rooms add balconies. The Presidential Suite includes two balconies overlooking the course, a kitchenette, jacuzzi, walk-in closet, and his-and-her sinks. Breakfast is included. Complimentary scheduled shuttles depart for the Miraflores Locks visitor centre, Soberanía National Park, the Rainforest Discovery Center, Metropolitan National Park, and Albrook and Altaplaza shopping centres. The resort lies 20 minutes outside Panama City and 45 minutes from Tocumen International Airport.
