Sungani Lodge sits on the edge of a large lagoon in South Luangwa National Park, in the Chilongozi area of Zambia's Eastern Province. The lodge is family-owned, and the elevated decking, the custom safari vehicles, and the hide network were constructed on site using local materials and craft rather than imported prefabricated components. That origin shows in the finish: raw textures, warm colours, and a design that favours plain quality over decoration.

The lodge holds seven tents, each around one thousand one hundred and fifty square feet of indoor space on polished concrete floors, with air conditioning, a slipper bath, an adjoining deck, and a private plunge pool. Tent categories include a large family configuration alongside standard king or twin options.

Activities run from the lagoon edge: twice-daily game drives on custom-built vehicles with individual seats and modified suspension, guided walking safaris along the Luangwa floodplains, night drives, and a photographic hide network that puts you at water level with hippo and, in season, at eye height with carmine bee-eaters. The resident head guide also leads dedicated photographic experiences. Bush meals are served on the banks of the Luangwa river.

The transfer to the lodge is a twenty-minute flight from Mfuwe, included in the stay. A sister property, Kulandila Camp, sits elsewhere in the concession and is offered as part of a combined itinerary.
