Rock Art and Cultural Sites
Tswalu safeguards a number of rock art sites scattered across its Kalahari land, left by San communities and other early inhabitants. On a guided outing, guests see engraved petroglyphs, small carved hollows called cupules, and painted figures depicting people, animals and birds alongside abstract markings. A guide explains what these images meant to the people who made them, and how they connect to the wider story of the region. The visit is on foot, led by a knowledgeable guide, and gives a direct sense of how long humans have lived in this landscape.
