Tawi Lodge

Tawi Lodge sits on a private conservancy in Amboseli, close to Kenya's border with Tanzania, on open bushland that faces Mount Kilimanjaro. Thirteen cottages and two suites are placed so that the mountain is visible from the bed and from the bathtub. Each cottage has a private wooden deck, a fireplace, a minibar, and an en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower. The luxury suite adds a large lounge and dining area, plus a plunge pool on its veranda. Lighting and water systems run on solar power.

Guides are local Maasai, and they lead game drives, night drives, guided walks, and camel rides across the conservancy. Bush breakfasts and picnic lunches are served at shaded spots in the field, and sundowner stops are chosen for their views across the Amboseli landscape toward Kilimanjaro. Hot-air balloon flights and scenic flights can be arranged off-site.

The kitchen draws on an organic garden irrigated with water that surfaces through volcanic rock from the Kilimanjaro watershed. Produce from the garden goes directly into meals at the main restaurant, and the menu draws on spices from the Swahili Coast. Additional facilities include a swimming pool, a spa, a bar, and a library. A family cottage connects a double and a twin room by a corridor, with a shared veranda for families travelling together.
