The Desert Grace Gondwana Collection Namibia

The Desert Grace sits on the C19, thirty kilometres south of Solitaire and sixty kilometres north of Sesriem — the entry point for Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. The lodge was built from sandbags rather than brick, a method that gives the walls good insulation and keeps the rooms noticeably cool in the desert heat. It is part of the Gondwana Collection, which manages around seven thousand four hundred square kilometres of private conservation land in Namibia.

Each of the twenty-four bungalows has a private plunge pool, a minibar, air conditioning, and a verandah. Room types are twin and family, the latter sleeping four. The lodge also has a restaurant, a bar, and secure parking with solar panels on the carport roof.

From the lodge you can join a guided morning or afternoon nature drive across the Gondwana Namib Park to see fairy circles and other desert features, or take a guided night walk of three kilometres using UV light to find nocturnal animals. Self-guided walking trails run at three, five, and seven kilometres. A guided half-day excursion to Sossusvlei departs from the lodge and includes brunch; prebooking is required.

The lodge accepts credit cards, offers complimentary Wi-Fi, and on clear nights — which are common in this part of the Namib — conditions are good for stargazing.
