The Dune Camp

The Dune Camp sits on a vegetated dune inside Deception Valley Private Reserve, which shares its fence line with the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and covers more than forty-three thousand hectares — one of the largest private reserves in Botswana. The terrain is Kalahari in full: open dunes, natural pans, hidden valleys, and designated waterholes that draw game through the day.

Eight en-suite chalets are spread along the dune, each with a private verandah, a twin or double bedroom, ceiling fan, and a bathroom with both bath and shower. The main area holds a bar, communal dining room, and a viewing lounge that looks out over the valley. The waterhole is within sight of the main area; oryx, springbok, and eland are regular visitors, and lion, brown hyena, and cheetah come through as well. A swimming pool sits on the property.

Game drives run morning and afternoon in open vehicles across the private reserve. The San cultural walk is led by members of the local Naru community, covering tracking, plant use, and practical bush knowledge specific to the Kalahari. The reserve also has viewing hides placed in the landscape for closer observation of game at the waterholes.

The camp is in Botswana's North-West District and is reached by light aircraft or road transfer.
