The Monarch
The Monarch is an exclusive-use villa on the Machangulo Peninsula in Maputo Province, set into coastal dunes above a private stretch of Indian Ocean beach within Machangulo Private Nature Reserve. The whole property takes one group at a time: six rooms sleeping up to fourteen guests, with a dedicated pool, a bar, communal dining, and a staff that includes a chef producing fine dining and made-to-order cocktails at the pool.
The rooms are spread across the main house and a separate Forest Suite. In the main house, the King Suite sits at the far end with a private lounge, a library with a dedicated workspace, a bathtub, and a large deck over the ocean. Two twin rooms nearby share a similar oceanside deck. The Forest Suite is reached by a wooden walkway under a tree canopy; it has a king bed, a private lounge with two day beds, and both indoor and outdoor showers. The two Pool Suites sit close to the pool, each with large glass doors opening onto private decks.
The reserve gives access to game drives and wildlife walks alongside the coastal activities: snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, whale watching, turtle tracking, wind sports, and offshore fishing can all be arranged through the villa's activity desk. A helicopter can be organised for scenic flights. Beach transfers, a private vehicle, and an airport shuttle are available for transfers.
