The Siding Hwange

The Siding sits at the edge of Hwange National Park beside the railway line that has carried trains between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls for decades — the camp takes its name from it. Elephants move through this part of Hwange freely, and the camp is positioned to make the most of that: you watch them from the campfire area or from your tent.

There are five dome tents in total. Three are double or twin units, each with beds, bedside lamps, a fan, and plug points. The fourth is a family unit built from two tents joined by a shared central lounge, sleeping up to four people. The fifth tent is noted as a free-standing unit. All guests share the ablution block, which includes showers. The camp is self-catering: each tent has a kitchenette with a gas cooker, fridge and freezer, and gas cylinders are provided. A barbecue area and communal dining space serve the wider camp, and there is a pool. A power generator covers electricity, and internet access is included.

Game viewing and birding are the main activities — Hwange's Big Five range through the area, and the crimson-breasted shrike is a common early-morning presence. Game drives operate off-site. The camp has twenty-four-hour security and onsite parking.
