The Victoria Falls Theatre Presents Simunye - The Spirit Of Africa

Simunye: The Spirit of Africa is a live theatre production staged in a 195-seat open-air theatre at Elephants Walk in Victoria Falls, Zambia. The show runs in the evening, and because the theatre is compact and uncovered, every seat sits close to the stage.

The production follows Bomani, brother of Chief Ekanjo, who is expelled from the Kimba tribe and travels across the African interior with his elephant companion, Ndlovu. The story moves through puppetry, dance, choreography, and live music. The director, Mongiwekhaya, is an accomplished Handspring puppeteer, and the cast is made up of local artists.

The title word — simunye — means 'we are one', and the production frames that theme through Bomani's journey: what he loses, what he learns, and where he arrives. The show has received awards and is performed in English.

After the performance, the cast stays on for photographs with the audience. Drinks are available from Brooks Café, which is adjacent to the theatre. Taxis run to and from the venue. Arriving at least twenty minutes before the show gives you time to find your seat before the performance begins.
