Tsara Camp

Tsara Camp sits in the Tsaranoro Valley in Madagascar's southern highlands, close to Andringitra National Park. The accommodation is tented, each unit with a private solar-heated outdoor shower. Two bungalows are built for accessibility, and the camp can arrange excursions for guests with reduced mobility using a Joelette — a single-wheeled sedan chair designed for rough terrain.

The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and a Malagasy dinner menu in a room with a panoramic view of the valley. Guides lead day excursions through Betsileo-Bara villages in the surrounding hills. A small forested area near the camp is home to ring-tailed lemurs, which are endemic to Madagascar.

For longer or more demanding outings, the camp organises the ascent of Pic Boby, at roughly two thousand four hundred and fifty-eight metres the second-highest peak in Madagascar. The route passes through Andringitra National Park and typically takes more than one day, so guests should plan their stay accordingly.

Tsara Camp is in the Fianarantsoa region. Access is by road from Fianarantsoa, the nearest major town, and the track into the valley is rough — a four-wheel-drive vehicle is the practical option for the final section.
