Tucanes Tours- Horseback Riding through the Jungle
Tucanes Tours runs this guided horse ride out of a working property at Londres, in the hills behind Quepos on the Pacific coast of Puntarenas. Hotel pickup is included, and the vehicle is air-conditioned — useful on the drive before you swap it for open country.
The property has stables, a corral, bathrooms, and a covered waiting area. Before you ride, the guides cover how to sit, steer, and stop, then give you time in the corral to settle before heading into the rainforest. No prior riding experience is required; the minimum age is seven, and the maximum rider weight is two hundred and fifty pounds.
The ride is a round trip of about two and a half hours. The trail moves through dense vegetation with valley views opening out above the treeline, and birds and reptiles are common along the way. Partway through, there is a rest stop where you can stretch out on the grass or go for a swim. The return leg follows the outward route back to the property.
At the end of the ride, the property serves a cooked lunch made from local ingredients. Once that is done, the vehicle returns you to your hotel.
