Waldeck Namibia

Spread across 16,000 hectares of the Khomas Region, Waldeck sits inland from Windhoek in a stretch of Namibian bush where plains game and birdlife move past the villas most days. The lodge is booked as a single unit, one group at a time, which means the six villas, main lodge and grounds belong to whoever is staying. Two of the villas hold two bedrooms, suited to families or groups travelling together, each with its own wood-burning fireplace and an outdoor shower. The main lodge has open fireplaces, a media room with a pool table, and several dining areas indoors and out. Outside, a wide terrace and pool face the land, and a traditional boma hosts dinners under the stars, complete with a wood-fired pizza oven. Guides run game drives across the property at dawn and dusk, when predators tend to move. Horse riding, e-biking and guided walks cover the same ground at a slower pace. There is a spa, a gym and a sauna for guests who would rather sit still. It is a quiet, self-contained base. Wi-Fi runs complimentary throughout, and butler service is available around the clock. Stays run for a minimum of two nights, with three recommended, long enough to notice how the light changes over the savanna by evening.
