Walkers Plains Camp

Developed from 2017 and completed by the end of 2018, Walkers Plains Camp is run by twin brothers Steve and James Walker, whose family bought the surrounding property in 2006 and later added Walkers River Camp and Walkers Bush Villa. It is a family enterprise, and it shows in the detail. The camp sits in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park and a Big Five area, with a small waterhole and the Drakensberg mountains visible from every room and from the main lodge. Eight rooms are set among the trees around a central homestead, six standard safari rooms and two family rooms with two bedrooms each, and every one has its own deck and private plunge pool. Rangers and trackers run two game drives a day in open vehicles, with rhino tracking and night drives also on offer. Meals, local wines, spirits, and liqueurs are included. The main lodge holds a pool, bar, dining room, lounge, and an open-air boma for dinners under the sky. It is a compact stay. Children over eight are welcome, and the larger family rooms suit them well. Road transfers run between Rockfig airstrip and the camp, a short link into a reserve known for its game viewing and birdwatching.
