Wilderness Chitabe Lediba

Established as the smaller companion to Wilderness Chitabe, this five-tent lodge takes its name from the Setswana word for lagoon — the permanent waterhole in front of camp that draws wildlife throughout the day and after dark. Set on a private island within the 22,000-hectare Chitabe Concession in the southeastern Okavango Delta, the camp borders Moremi Game Reserve to the north and sits where permanent channels meet seasonal floodplains, woodlands, and Kalahari grassland.

Each tent occupies a raised timber deck with views across the lagoon. Rooms are built in Meru style with canvas walls, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers, overhead fans, and mosquito nets. Two family units accommodate four guests each — one with adjoining bedrooms linked by an indoor passage, the other with bedrooms connected by an outdoor walkway. Standard tents hold twin or double beds. The main areas include a lounge, dining space, pool, and bar positioned to overlook the lagoon. A boma and firepit provide evening gathering points under the stars.

Game drives depart at dawn and dusk across the concession's varied terrain. African wild dog, lion, leopard, cheetah, and spotted hyena are regularly sighted. Antelope populations include tsessebe, impala, and red lechwe; elephant, giraffe, and buffalo move through daily. Night drives use spotlights to reveal civets, genets, and owls. Guided walks track smaller fauna and identify bird species — over 400 recorded across the Delta. The concession operates as a no-public-access zone, so sightings are undisturbed. Helicopter flights and day excursions to Tsodilo Hills can be arranged. The camp runs entirely on solar power.
