The lodge sits on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater — the largest intact inactive volcanic caldera on Earth — in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of northern Tanzania. Fifteen suites look out over the crater from this position, and the crater floor, roughly six hundred metres below, is where game drives run most mornings.

The suites come in two types: standard Crater View Suites and a two-bedroom Family Suite, both in the same construction — canvas walls and roof on timber floors with rugs, fireplaces, private verandahs, and a bath. Modern insulation is built into the canvas for warmth and soundproofing, which matters at this altitude. Each has a mini bar, safe, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Game drives descend into the caldera, where elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and black rhino all live within a single enclosed ecosystem. The property also offers guided walks with a Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority ranger through the highlands, and a hike to Olmoti Crater — a smaller sunken caldera with the Munge Waterfall accessible by trail. A Maasai boma visit, at additional cost, is arranged through the lodge. One activity stands apart: a set table on the crater floor itself, where staff serve a multi-course lunch in the open air.

Back at the lodge, a bar and main dining room serve both communal and private meals. The property is malaria-free at this elevation, and secure parking is available for self-drive guests.
