Wilderness Mara at Wilderness Mara, Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.
Perfect for Big 5, Birding, Nature
Wilderness Mara sits inside the Mara Triangle, the section of the Masai Mara National Reserve managed by the Mara Conservancy under a public-private agreement. The Conservancy limits the number of lodges and vehicles operating here, which keeps game drives quieter and less pressured than in the broader reserve. The camp has twelve rooms.

The terrain runs from open plains up to the Oloololo Escarpment and down into riverine forest along the Mara River. During the Great Migration, wildebeest cross the river at points within the Triangle, and the camp holds the only arrangement that gives guests access to both banks — rangers move across to whichever side the animals are using. Big Five are present year-round; black rhino have been recorded in the Triangle. The reserve's bird list stands at over 470 species.

Game drives go out in the mornings and afternoons; the reserve does not permit night drives. Hot air balloon flights over the Mara are available through a balloon safari operator at an additional cost. Cultural visits to nearby Maasai communities can also be arranged.

The camp hosts a resident lion monitor attached to a predator conservation programme, tracking lion movement across the Triangle and operating from the camp as a base.
