Wilderness Toka Leya

Toka Leya sits on the bank of the Zambezi River just outside Livingstone, close enough to town and Victoria Falls for day excursions, far enough that hippos and crocodiles move through the river view uninterrupted. The camp holds thirteen tented rooms — nine standard twin or double tents and three family tents, each sleeping four. The tents are canvas-walled, raised on decks with river views, and connected by elevated wooden walkways that keep the ground largely undisturbed. Each tent has an outdoor bath.

The camp operates inside and alongside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, Zambia's smallest national park. Game drives bring sightings of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, and white rhino. The rhino encounter goes further: Zambian Wildlife Authority scouts monitor the animals around the clock, so you travel by vehicle to their location, then track them on foot with a scout. River cruises run at sunset or during the day and reliably turn up hippo, crocodile, and a wide range of birds, including half-collared kingfisher and African skimmer. Catch-and-release fishing targets tilapia and, in the warmer months of October through December, tiger fish.

The spa offers treatments on the riverbank. The back-of-house sustainability tour covers the camp's worm farm, water reuse system, and tree nursery, where indigenous trees are grown for land rehabilitation. Off-site, guided visits to nearby villages and Livingstone's museum and markets are available. White-water rafting, bungee jumping, and helicopter flights over Victoria Falls are arranged from the camp at additional cost.

Victoria Falls is a short drive away on the Zambia–Zimbabwe border.
