Wolwedans Dune Camp

Dune Camp stands on the rim of a two-hundred-and-fifty-metre dune inside the NamibRand Nature Reserve, a private not-for-profit reserve covering more than two hundred thousand hectares in southern Namibia. The views run from the dune face across open desert to a distant mountain range.

Six tented rooms sit on raised wooden platforms, each with a king-size bed, an indoor bathroom, and an outdoor shower. The private deck outside each room holds a small water-filled silo — a cooling spot during hot months — and doubles as a sleep-out platform on clear nights. A separate family suite, a short walk from the main camp, has two en-suite rooms and a sala with single beds for children, with its own private guide and vehicle.

The main camp occupies a linked set of open decks stepping along the dune: seating, dining, and a covered tea area all face the same desert landscape. Dinner is served at a shared table; private tables are available on request. The canvas walls open fully in summer for airflow and roll down in winter.

Activities include game drives, guided and self-guided walks, a dune walk with a local guide, horse riding, e-bike rides, and hot-air ballooning arranged from the reserve. The night sky above NamibRand holds International Dark-Sky Association recognition, and sleep-outs on the room decks or in the dunes are a dedicated offering at this camp.

The camp accepts children aged seven and older; the family suite takes children of all ages. NamibRand receives fewer than forty-five guests across the entire reserve at any one time.
