Xakanaxa

Xakanaxa is a mobile tented safari operated by Pride of Africa Safaris inside Moremi Game Reserve, in Botswana's North-West District. The camp sits in an area of large lagoons, mopane forest, open grassland, and swampy ground — terrain that draws a wide range of wildlife and makes game drives varied in landscape as well as sightings.

A mobile camp works differently from a fixed lodge. Staff travel ahead of the group and set the camp up before guests and guides arrive, so the tents, the place to eat, and the bar are ready on arrival. Because the campsites are exclusive — not shared with other operators — the camp can also shift between locations to follow seasonal animal movements, placing guests closer to where the wildlife actually is at a given time of year.

Each en suite tent has a camp bed with a high-density mattress, bedside tables, and solar lighting in both the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom provides a hot bucket shower, a washbasin, and a chemical toilet. Outside, a shaded veranda with a director's chair faces the bush directly, with no fence or barrier between the tent and the surrounding reserve.

Meals and snacks are prepared by bush chefs and served under the communal tent; drinks come from a staffed bar alongside it. Afternoon game drives run for around three hours; the rest of the day is unstructured, spent in camp or reading.
