Xobega Island Camp

Xobega Island Camp occupies a tree-covered island inside the Okavango Delta, sitting within Moremi Game Reserve and reached by boat across Delta channels. The approach is part of the experience: self-drivers need a 4x4 and a driver confident on thick sand and, in the rainy season, deep water crossings along Moremi's roads. The island itself is quiet, simple, and deliberately low-impact.

The camp holds ten Meru-style canvas tents, each with twin stretcher beds, bedding and linen, floor rugs, and scatter cushions. A canvas overhang at the front of each tent creates a shaded verandah. Behind the tent, an open-air en suite bathroom with a bucket shower and chemical toilet keeps the footprint light. Power is solar. Dining is communal.

Boat cruises run twice daily — morning and around sunset — through the channels and lagoons surrounding the island. Hippo, elephant, and crocodile move through these waters, and the birdlife is substantial: Pel's fishing owl is resident in the camp's trees. Mokoro excursions depart from Mboma boat station on the Moremi mainland, where a guide meets self-drivers and brings them across by a forty-five-minute boat cruise. Pollers at the station can arrange mokoro trips before that crossing.

Guests must present their reservation voucher at the Moremi gate on the way in.
