Set above 120-metre cliffs at Gerickes Point, the launch site sits a short drive from the lodge. A tandem pilot handles take-off and landing, riding the thermals along the cliff line. It is a short flight, but a high one. From the air, the Outeniqua Mountains rise inland while the Swartvlei wetlands spread below, and the coastline runs out along the sand in both directions. No experience is required, and flights depend on wind and weather on the day.
