18 On The Hill

Set on elevated ground in Maseke Game Reserve within Balule Nature Reserve, 18 On The Hill is nine canvas suites sharing unfenced borders with Kruger National Park. Each suite is 100 square metres and holds a super-king bed that splits into two three-quarter beds, a sleeper couch, a plunge pool, an outdoor shower, air-conditioning, a fan, mosquito nets, a mini-bar, a safe, and a deck. The canvas construction is the sole tent element; interiors are solid walls and floors. Every suite is themed after a tree indigenous to the lowveld. A five-bedroom villa accommodating ten adults is due in 2026, with en-suite bathrooms, a kitchen, a lounge, a pool, a bar, a boma, and a private chef.

Guided drives depart twice daily across eleven thousand hectares of Maseke and adjacent riverfront traverse along the Olifants River. Rangers track the Big Five, general wildlife, and birds. Night drives and guided walks can be arranged. The closest airstrip is on the reserve; Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport is thirty minutes by road. Meals are prepared by the lodge chefs using local ingredients; the property operates a separate kosher kitchen under supervision by a qualified mashgiach. A waterhole lies within view of the lodge. You can hear animals from the suites at night. The curio shop, bar, and laundry service are on-site.
