Amuri Estate Retreat

Hosting weddings and conferences beneath the Southern Alps, Amuri Estate runs its events from a newly built barn-style hall with polished concrete floors, light plywood walls and 16 metres of glass doors framing the mountains. The main room seats up to 200 guests; a smaller meeting space holds between 20 and 60. Outside, a grassed ceremony area sits before an archway and a bank of grandstand seating, with views over the Waiau River and the farmland beyond. It is a working sheep, deer and cattle country, and the estate's own 26 acres carry an olive grove, an orchard and stands of native planting. For overnight stays, a small lodge holds three king rooms named for nearby high country stations — Molesworth, St James and Rainbow — each with a private patio. The separate Wallace Peak Cottage sits within the olive grove, self-contained, with its own kitchen and a king bed. Guests staying two nights or more get a cheese board on arrival. Hanmer Springs village, with its thermal pools and restaurants, is an eight-minute drive away; Christchurch is around 90 minutes by road. An onsite event manager runs the logistics on the day. Check-in at the cottage runs from 3pm.
