andBeyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp
Tented camp on a Maasai concession beneath the Oloololo escarpment in the western Mara
Set along the Saparingo River beneath the Oloololo escarpment, andBeyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp occupies a private concession bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve in the remote western Mara. The concession is leased from Maasai landlords. Thirty-four tents are split between twenty-six Superior Tents and eight Superior View Tents; all feature Maasai-inspired interiors with stained cypress furniture and oversized beds positioned for the view. Superior View Tents open onto uninterrupted panoramas of the Mara and the nearby escarpment. Superior Tents look through riverine forest canopy or onto open grassland. Three Superior Family Tents comprise two interconnected canvas rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda, accommodating up to four.
A double-storey bar and lounge with oversized windows overlooks the plains. The kitchen is visible from the dining room; a vegetable garden sits beside it. A swimming pool is set among trees on lawns facing the grassland. Game drives depart twice daily with a professional guide; night drives run exclusively on the Kichwa Tembo concession, the only western Mara zone where driving after dark is permitted. Guided walks include the two-hour Kichwa Nature Trail along Saparingo Creek and a climb up the Oloololo escarpment for escarpment views. You can arrange morning balloon safaris, Maasai village visits, and spa treatments. Laundry, wireless internet, and mini-bar are complimentary.
