Mahogany trunks rise past the deck rails here, and forest light falls dappled across the bedroom floors. Set on stilts above the ground, the treehouse suites at andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge open onto large windows and wide decks, so the canopy feels close enough to touch. Ten suites, built from local timber and makuti palm thatch, look over glades where elephants pass beneath the floorboards. Bathrooms hold freestanding tubs with a forest view and an open-air shower; billowing mosquito nets hang over the beds. It sits alone within Lake Manyara National Park, the only permanent lodge inside its boundary, giving guests early access to a landscape that shifts from soda lake to groundwater forest within a few kilometres. Tree-climbing lions are seen here, along with elephant herds and more than 400 recorded bird species. Game drives run twice daily, at sunrise and dusk, and guests staying two nights or more can add a night drive or a bicycle ride through the surrounding country. A central open kitchen lets guests watch meals being cooked before eating in the boma or on the open decks. Nights bring birdsong and rustling leaves through the open windows. Guided forest walks and a treetop canopy walkway extend the stay beyond the vehicle. Check-in runs from 2pm.
