Anderssons At Ongava

Andersson's at Ongava sits on the private Ongava Game Reserve at the Andersson Gate, the southern entrance to Etosha National Park. Its position gives direct access to one of the more productive stretches of the park, and game drives run both inside Etosha and across the reserve itself.

The camp holds eight units — six twin-bedded suites, one double suite with a queen bed, and a family unit made up of two linked suites each with its own entrance and bathroom. The suites are built from natural stone, designed to read as extensions of the rock and scrub around them, with private decks and outside showers. An infinity-edge pool looks out toward the waterhole.

The waterhole is central to what the camp does. An underground hide sits at water level, where plains game — warthog, zebra, giraffe, various antelope — come in regularly, and rhino and lion appear less predictably. Game drives go out in the afternoons and evenings on Ongava, where white rhino, lion, and the endemic black-faced impala are resident. Guided nature walks run seasonally, subject to a walking guide being available, and offer a chance to approach white rhino on foot.

The Ongava Research Centre operates within the reserve, and guests can engage with resident scientists at the Ongava Visitor Centre, which holds a self-guided exhibition on the geology, plants, and animals of the region, alongside a thirty-six-seat auditorium for presentations. A dedicated photographic editing area serves specialist photography groups. The bar, lounge, open-air dining, and sunken observation terrace complete the social areas.
