Angaga Island Resort
Set on a 42,372-square-metre island in the centre of South Ari Atoll, Angaga Island Resort & Spa lies 85 km from Malé airport. Transfer by seaplane takes 25 minutes. The island is ringed by white sand and a house reef accessible from the main jetty; stingrays, sharks, and turtles move through waters that hold schools of snappers, soldierfish, and batfish. Fifty thatched beach bungalows stand on sand beneath palms. Each measures 45 m² and holds up to three guests. A full glass door opens onto a private wooden deck with seating and a swing. Bathrooms contain a bathtub and separate shower. Twenty superior over-water bungalows measure 65 m²; 24 premium over-water bungalows measure 78 m². Both categories include a glass-bottomed table and a back door leading to a private sundeck with direct lagoon access. All units carry air conditioning, satellite television, mini-fridge, and tea- and coffee-making equipment. The Duny Thai Spa occupies dedicated premises and offers Thai, Swedish, and stone massage, facials, and body treatments. The SUB AQUA dive centre stands beside the superior water-bungalow jetty and offers PADI courses, guided dives, and complimentary nitrox to certified divers. Angaga Thila dive site lies seven minutes offshore by boat. Weekly excursions include snorkelling trips, sunset fishing, island-hopping visits to local villages, and whale-shark snorkelling between May and November. Water-sports equipment includes kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.
