Avocado Bay Private Retreat

Timber four-poster beds stand under mosquito nets in six rooms that face Lake Victoria from a peninsula twelve kilometres north-west of Entebbe. Avocado Bay Private Retreat spreads across ten acres bordered by water on three sides; lawns and forest occupy the interior. The Lookout Point sits at the top of the main house and opens onto a 360-degree view across the lake; you can watch fishing boats pass below and see Namiryango Island to the south. The Cottage upon the Lake stands alone on its own small island, reached by a short bridge. A kitchenette, desk, and sofa fit inside. The Family Room adds bunk beds to a queen bed and sleeps four.

Two-person tents can be pitched on the grounds. The watch tower gives simultaneous views across four districts: Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, and on clear days Kalangala. A one-kilometre nature walk links the north and west beaches, crossing open lawns, avocado groves, and lakeside forest. Rod fishing from the eastern rocks yields tilapia and Nile perch. Boat transfers run seventeen minutes to Garuga, thirty to Bulago Island, and twenty-five to Munyonyo. The restaurant serves full English or continental breakfast; grilled chicken, fillet steak, and whole tilapia feature at lunch. Monitor lizards shelter among shore plants near the peninsula tip. Kingfishers, village weavers, and African jacanas are resident year-round; the property records seventy bird species across the seasons.
