Awasi Patagonia Relais & Chateaux

Set on a private reserve above Lake Sarmiento, Awasi Patagonia looks straight across the pampas to the granite towers of Torres del Paine. A stand of native lenga and ñirre trees breaks the wind that otherwise runs unchecked across this stretch of Magallanes. Guanacos and foxes range the grassland below the lodge, and condors circle overhead; pumas turn up too, if less often. The reserve covers 7,000 acres. Just fourteen villas sit within it, built from local timber and spaced for privacy, each looking onto forest, lake, or the Torres themselves. The Cenit Villa is the largest, an oval structure of nearly 180 m² with two master suites, a shared kitchen and living room, and a circular sheltered patio built around an outdoor hot tub. Every villa comes with its own guide and an INEOS Grenadier 4x4, so each stay follows its own route rather than a set itinerary, from the Base Torres trail to early puma-tracking drives before dawn. The restaurant is reserved for lodge guests only. Chef Natalia Paz builds the daily menu around fish from the South Pacific fjords, king crab, and locally reared lamb, adjusted to the season and to each table's taste. Evenings end by the fire in the main lounge, glass of Chilean wine in hand, Torres del Paine turning dark against the sky outside.
