Ayujidda Nubian House

Set on the western bank of Heisa Island in the Nile at Aswan, Ayujidda Nubian House occupies the site of a family home built in the early 1900s and reopened as a lodge in 2022. Nine rooms sit beneath traditional Nubian domes that help regulate temperature. Each has an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, a kettle with tea and coffee, and a private terrace overlooking the river. The Deluxe King holds one king bed; three Deluxe Twin rooms have two double beds. Two Superior Queen rooms add courtyard space. A Family Suite includes a king bed and a separate alcove accessed through an archway, with a built-in bunk and a window facing the water.

The lodge prepares Nubian meals on site; breakfast and dinner are served in the dining area or on the terrace. Kayaks launch from the bank for paddles along quiet stretches of the Nile. Felucca rides depart from the island. Guided visits run to Philae Temple, built around 280 BCE on an adjacent island, and to Kalabsha Temple on the shore of Lake Nasser. Sandboarding is offered on nearby dunes above the water. Heisa lies between the old Aswan reservoir and the High Dam. The island sits on high ground; walking trails cross the settlement and connect to neighbouring beaches and sandbars. You can hear the river from the rooms.
