Bakubung Bush Lodge sits at the entrance to the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, less than two hours by road west of Johannesburg. The lodge holds one hundred rooms and six private villas overlooking the reserve. Standard rooms have either two double beds, two queen beds, or one king bed, plus air-conditioning, a separate bath and shower, a safe, a telephone, tea and coffee facilities, and a stocked minibar. Luxury king rooms add a lounge area with a couch. Executive suites include the lounge and upgraded amenities.
The six villas each have three or four en-suite bedrooms, two lounge areas, a fully equipped kitchen, a private heated pool, and an outdoor shower. Villa 19 rises over three storeys on the mountainside with views across the park.
Guided game drives run for three hours through Pilanesberg, tracking Big Five species across the reserve. Guided walks depart daily for tree, bird, and game identification. A Junior Rangers programme operates for children aged six to twelve. The Marula Grill Restaurant overlooks a waterhole; elephants often drink there in late afternoon. Bush dinners take place in an outdoor boma within the park. The Legacy Balance Spa occupies a hillside above the lodge. An outdoor pool, a children's playground, secure parking, and complimentary wireless internet are standard. Laundry service is available. Staff speak Afrikaans, English, Xhosa, and Zulu.
