Blyde River Canyon Lodge

Jackalberry trees 900 years old shade lawns where zebra and wildebeest graze within sight of the rooms. The lodge sits in an 85-hectare botanical reserve on the Blyde River, forty minutes from Kruger National Park's Orpen Gate, within the Blyde River Canyon of Limpopo Province. Nine air-conditioned rooms open onto gardens backed by the Drakensberg escarpment; all have satellite television, wireless internet, and tea and coffee facilities. Six luxury rooms hold either queen or twin beds and en-suite showers. A luxury loft room has a queen bed and a bath. The Honeymoon Suite adds a king-size canopy bed and a Nespresso machine. A two-bedroom cottage includes two en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, and the same garden access. Hippo and crocodiles populate the Blyde River stretches; impala, kudu, bushbuck, and bushpig move through the reserve. Boat cruises run on the Blyde Dam. Hiking trails thread through the canyon and nearby Franklyn Park. Quad biking, tubing, and rafting operate subject to availability. Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre lies within reach. The lodge sits on the Panorama Route: Bourke's Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels, God's Window, the Pinnacle, Berlin Falls, and Lisbon Falls are all accessible by road. A restaurant serves full English breakfasts daily and three-course dinners on request, menus built from local suppliers. A swimming pool, bar, secure parking, and 24-hour security are standard. An activity desk arranges excursions and bookings.
