Set on a Zuurberg mountaintop beneath wild fig trees, Camp Figtree overlooks the valleys surrounding Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape. Solar panels power the property; water is drawn from a natural mountain spring. Thirteen rooms are split among five suite types and one tent category. Luxury Suites stand on elevated platforms four metres above the cliff edge, each with a wrap-around balcony facing the valley. Superior Boardwalk Suites sit on raised walkways with private balconies overlooking the Zuurberg range; interiors carry wooden floors and colonial-era furnishings. Poolside Superior Suites lie within the gardens and can interlink to accommodate families of eight. The Ivory Luxury Suite occupies a secluded section of bush and includes an outdoor bath and open-air shower. Luxury Tents are positioned on the mountain edge with canvas openings that frame uninterrupted valley views. Guided drives into Addo depart in open game-viewer vehicles at 8am and 2pm for half-day safaris; full-day drives leave at 8am and return by 6pm with a picnic lunch inside the park. Rangers plan routes according to sightings of elephant, buffalo, and plains game. On-property activities include guided bush walks focused on smaller fauna, flora, and birdlife, and e-bike rides along routes graded from beginner to advanced. The lodge's general manager hosts pre-dinner drinks each evening at the boma. Dusk & Dawn restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner on an open verandah or in the interior dining room, depending on weather. Complimentary tea, coffee, and a daily-baked cake are available throughout the day. You can hear birdsong and the rustle of leaves from the pool deck.
