Cape Recife Lighthouse Luxury Villa
Cape Recife Lighthouse Villa sits beside the working Cape Recife Lighthouse inside the Cape Recife Nature Reserve on Algoa Bay, fifteen minutes by road from Port Elizabeth Airport. The reserve protects a strip of fynbos-covered dunes and coastline along the Eastern Cape. The villa occupies the former keeper's quarters, a two-storey building a few paces from the twenty-four-metre octagonal tower, painted in black-and-white bands since 1929.

The villa accommodates up to four adults. Two bedrooms, each with a double bed, share a modern bathroom fitted with a walk-in shower. A sleeper couch in the ground-floor lounge adds capacity for two children. The kitchen is fitted with a gas hob and full cooking equipment; self-catering is standard, though an in-house chef can be arranged on request. The upper floor holds a lounge with an indoor fireplace and boma, wraparound views of Algoa Bay, and a furnished balcony facing the breaking surf. The property runs on solar. Wi-Fi is available; mobile signal is intermittent.

You can walk directly onto the sand from the villa door. Beach and dune trails extend in both directions; tidal pools form along the rock shelves at low tide. Guided lighthouse tours run in the mornings and at sunset, covering the maritime history of the 1851 beacon and access to the tower interior. Bottlenose dolphins, seals, and seasonal migrating whales pass through Algoa Bay year-round. Resident otters leave tracks in the sand at dawn. Birding hides and self-guided botanical walks lie within the reserve; the Roseate tern nests on this stretch of coast. The SANCCOB marine rehabilitation centre operates nearby.
