Founded in 1925 by naturopath Stanley Lief, Champneys Tring is Britain's original health spa. The estate spreads across 170 acres of Hertfordshire parkland once owned by the Rothschild family and lies 46 minutes by train from London Euston. Accommodation ranges from standard rooms with double or twin beds through superior rooms overlooking manicured gardens — some ground-floor units open onto terraces with deck chairs — to luxe rooms with king-size beds in prime locations. Suites feature separate lounge areas, king-size beds, and garden views. Deluxe suites add a second bathroom, a super king bed, turndown service, and priority parking; guests receive a glass of Laurent Perrier on arrival. The spa offers modern and traditional treatments alongside a manicure and pedicure salon. The Marine and Wellness Spa, first of its kind in the UK, operates on site. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner; continental breakfast and dinner credits are included in most packages. A boutique, hair salon, and medical centre occupy separate buildings on the estate. The Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, border the property. The Grand Union Canal trail and the National Trust's Ashridge Estate woodland lie within reach by road.
