Elephant Bedroom Camp sits on the bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River inside Samburu National Reserve, shaded by doum palms and the riverine trees that form a narrow green corridor through otherwise dry plains. The reserve stretches north of Mt Kenya, and those mountains form the backdrop visible from camp.

There are twelve tents in two categories: luxury tents with king-size double or queen-size twin beds, and deluxe suites — both en suite, and both fitted with a plunge pool set into the deck outside. Each tent has hot and cold running water and electricity. The lounge and dining area serves as the central gathering point between drives; the bar and restaurant operate from the same building, and there is a spa on site.

Samburu National Reserve holds a number of species endemic to northern Kenya that do not appear further south, alongside lion, leopard, and large elephant populations. Guides run game drives and game walks from camp, and bird watching draws serious attention: the riverine forest along the Ewaso Nyiro attracts watercourse-dependent species absent from the dry plains on either side.

Elephant, impala, and vervet monkey move through camp regularly. Cultural tours to local Samburu communities are available off site. The camp accommodates wheelchair users and has twenty-four-hour security.
