Emerson Spice
Emerson Spice is a merchant's house restored as an 11-room hotel in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Rooms are individually designed around an airy central courtyard that brings light into the building. Each features air conditioning, a fridge, and a seating area; bathrooms open to the bedroom. Art Deco motifs combine with traditional Zanzibar furnishings, including carved Swahili beds and antique furniture sourced locally. Rooms vary by size and configuration, with options for two to four guests. Two restaurants occupy the property. The rooftop Tea House serves a five-course seafood tasting menu prepared by Zanzibari chefs using ingredients sourced from the island, with the first course at 19h00; guests arrive from 18h00 for sunset. The Secret Garden is set within the ruin of an adjacent building and offers à la carte Zanzibari dishes for dinner from 17h00 to 21h30. Live music by local artists plays on Wednesday and Friday evenings at 20h00. The hotel is within walking distance of Stone Town's alleys, museums, and the Old Fort. Wireless internet is complimentary. Laundry service, room service, and 24-hour reception are available. Stone Town's harbour and spice markets lie within reach.
