Set in mopane woodland on Ongava Game Reserve, Encounter operates as an unfenced camp where wildlife moves through the surrounding landscape. The camp was established within the private reserve that borders Etosha National Park to the north. Seven twin-bedded tents and one paired unit occupy the site. The paired tent links two identical rooms via a short curved walkway; each room has its own bathroom and entrance. All tents are walk-in canvas structures with en-suite bathrooms that include indoor and outdoor showers. Mosquito nets hang above beds. Each tent opens onto a private balcony.
Guided afternoon and evening game drives cross the reserve, which holds populations of white and black rhino, lion, and black-faced impala endemic to the region. Rangers track zebra and antelope across the concession. Full-day and half-day excursions into Etosha National Park depart in the morning; packed lunches accompany the full-day option. The park's perennial springs draw high-density game to the edge of the saltpan. Guided nature walks through the reserve operate seasonally, subject to an available walking guide. Walks approach white rhino on foot and cover the area's arid-adapted flora and fauna. Rhino tracking takes place on the reserve. The camp includes a bar, library, and pool. Laundry service is complimentary. The Ongava Visitor Centre displays geology, animal, plant, and ecological information specific to the region.
