Grand Hotel Ortigia

Grand Hotel Ortigia stands on the island of Ortigia, the historic centre of Siracusa, on the eastern coast of Sicily. The building dates from the late nineteenth century; a full renovation carried out between 1991 and 1995 updated the interior while keeping the original façade and structure intact.

The hotel offers rooms and suites in several categories, a number of them with sea views. All rooms have Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions with satellite channels, a minibar, electronic safe, telephone, and radio alarm clock. Buffet breakfast is served each morning, and room service is available.

The restaurant sits over the marina — it extends out above the water and is reached from the hotel by a panoramic lift. The kitchen serves regional Sicilian and international dishes alongside a wine list. Eating there, the marina is directly below the window.

Ortigia is a small island connected to the Siracusa mainland by two short bridges, and the hotel's position puts the Greek temple of Apollo, the cathedral built into a fifth-century BC Doric temple, and the Fonte Aretusa freshwater spring all within walking distance. For the beach, the hotel runs a shuttle service to its private beach outside the city.
