Set in a 3,800-hectare private reserve bordering the Greater Kruger National Park, Tshukudu Game Lodge is nine chalets built along a riverbed near Hoedspruit in Limpopo Province. Each chalet holds twin three-quarter beds, an en-suite bathroom with shower, a terrace overlooking the riverbed, a safe, and a fan. The main lodge includes a veranda, a lounge, a communal dining area, a bar, and a pool deck. The lodge accommodates a maximum of 18 guests.
Field guides lead morning drives at six o'clock and sunset drives extending into night drives. Trackers accompany game drives to locate the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — across riverine forest and open plains. Bush walks depart on foot with a guide. The lodge works with a wildlife veterinarian who de-horns rhino on the reserve to reduce poaching risk. You can hear hippos from the terrace in the late afternoon.
The Bush Spa offers body wraps, massages, and facials in treatment rooms overlooking the bushveld. The lodge supports the Baby Box Project at Tintswalo Hospital through Pack for a Purpose, collecting clothing and hygiene supplies for new mothers. The Hoedspruit Rotary Club receives donations for education, healthcare, and anti-poaching programmes. Wireless internet is complimentary. Day passes allow visitors to join a game drive without staying overnight.
