Hotel De La Coupole

Painted in French mustard and rose wine, the rooms at Hotel de la Coupole trade on colour the way a couturier trades on cut. Bill Bensley designed the property, threading French Indochine references through hill tribe pattern and craft across 249 rooms and suites. It is Sapa's only international five-star hotel. Classic and Superior rooms run 33 m², each with a balcony; higher floors bring wider views over the valley and its terraced fields. Deluxe rooms shift to jade green, a nod to the surrounding hills, with marble bathrooms and walk-in rainfall showers. The Executive Suite runs to 80 m², its bathroom lit by windows onto the mountains, while the Presidential Suite tops the hotel at 116 m² with a private terrace. Downstairs, Cacao serves pastries and hot chocolate beneath a spiral staircase; Chic plates French dishes with local ingredients on an open-air balcony; Absinthe, the rooftop bar, keeps a fireplace burning against the cold for guests watching the peaks. Nuages Spa, on the seventh floor, draws on Red Dao treatments and adjoins an indoor pool ringed in green marble. The hotel sits beside the Fansipan cable car terminal, putting Indochina's highest peak within a short walk of checkout.
