Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

Set on the banks of the Mluwati River in a private concession within Kruger National Park, Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge is six circular thatched suites built in traditional Tsonga rondavel style. The concession covers one hundred square kilometres and sits on an old elephant route. Each air-conditioned suite has earth-toned walls, a private timber deck overlooking the bush, an indoor bath, and an outdoor shower. Glass doors fold back to connect the room to the landscape. Tsonga fabrics and locally sourced ornaments feature throughout.

The main area includes an infinity pool and a deck that overlooks a seasonal waterhole where elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo come to drink. Breakfast is served as a buffet after the morning game drive. Lunch includes salads and local specialities. Three-course dinners are taken under the stars around an open fire. High tea precedes the afternoon safari. Wi-Fi is available in the communal area only; there is no mobile signal in the suites.

Morning and evening game drives depart in open Land Cruiser vehicles with a ranger and tracker. Night drives extend past sunset to reveal nocturnal species. Guided walking safaris can be arranged in advance, subject to conditions and guide discretion. Bird species recorded in the concession include Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill, Crested Barbet, and Pied Kingfisher. In-room spa treatments use aromatherapy oils blended with ylang-ylang, cedarwood, and vanilla. The lodge collaborates with the Mirantha Youth Development Centre in the nearby town of Acornhoek, training local therapists and supporting community education projects.
