Set above the Sand River in the western sector of Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, the lodge holds the largest stretch of undeveloped river frontage in its area. Eleven chalets spread along a ridge with views over the perennial water below. Each chalet measures 24-hour temperature control via air conditioning, heating, and overhead fans. En-suite bathrooms contain twin hand basins, separate bath, shower, and toilet. Mini-bar fridges are stocked on request; tea and coffee facilities, mini-safes, and direct-dial telephones are standard. One family chalet accommodates up to four guests with a king bed and two single beds. Complimentary Wi-Fi reaches all rooms.
Guides lead twice-daily game drives in vehicles built for off-road access, traversing private land unfenced from Kruger National Park. Leopard, lion, elephant, rhino, and buffalo move freely across the reserve. Cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, and zebra appear frequently. Trackers accompany each ranger. Bush walks focus on smaller species—birds, insects, butterflies—and cover tree identification, geology, and ecology. Catch-and-release fishing takes place along the Sand River and at the causeway, with equipment supplied. Rangers escort guests after dark; hippos graze the lawns at night.
Breakfast is served on a wooden viewing deck overlooking the river. Dinners rotate between the deck, a traditional boma under open sky, and bush settings lit by lanterns. The lodge stocks South African wines from Stellenbosch estates. A swimming pool faces the river. The curio shop sources products locally where possible.
