Set in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve within the greater Kruger National Park ecosystem, the lodge holds eight chalets facing a waterhole and the surrounding bushveld. Each chalet contains a four-poster bed draped in mosquito netting, an en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower, a private patio, minibar, and safe. Room 1 is the honeymoon suite; Rooms 3, 5 and 7, and 6 and 8 can be linked as family units for four. The property runs entirely on solar energy.
Game drives depart at dawn and in the late afternoon, each lasting roughly three hours. Rangers and trackers navigate the reserve in open vehicles; routes follow the Big Five, endangered African wild dogs, and the Timbavati's white lions. Guided walks cross the reserve on foot. Night drives track nocturnal species after dark. A raised sleep-out deck sits on the banks of Nduna Dam, where hippos and other game come to drink. Children enrol in the Kambaku Kubs programme and can qualify as junior rangers. The Graeme Naylor Museum in the reserve displays natural-history exhibits and a white-lion collection.
A pool overlooks the waterhole. The underground wine cellar hosts private dinners with views of animals drinking at night. Communal dinners take place under the stars. Wi-Fi, a curio shop, babysitting, and a library are standard. Staff speak English and Afrikaans.
