Kapama River Lodge
Seventy-five suites on Kapama reserve near Hoedspruit with twice-daily Big Five drives
Set within Kapama Private Game Reserve near Hoedspruit, the lodge holds seventy-five air-conditioned suites across four categories. The Tamboti Superior suites — the newest block — feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto private balconies, deep-soak baths overlooking the reserve, and interleading configurations for families. Marula suites are 60 m² spaces with uninterrupted reserve views, natural stone en-suites, dual showers, and soaking baths. Royal suites add a separate lounge and extended balcony furnished with recliners; the en-suite holds a bath and dual shower facing the bush. Standard Courtyard suites face the central courtyard rather than the reserve. Twice-daily game drives depart with a professional ranger and tracker across the reserve; night drives extend into hours when nocturnal species emerge. Guided bush walks track animals on foot. The wellness centre — six treatment rooms arranged around a central lap pool — overlooks the reserve; you can watch elephants at the dam while a therapist works. The open-sided boma hosts dinners around fire; Xitsumbeni dining hall has floor-to-ceiling glass doors that stack open to the bushveld. A curio shop, bar, and rim-flow pool complete the main lodge areas. Staff speak English and Afrikaans. Laundry service, wireless internet, and minibar are complimentary.
