Kapamba swimming pool at Kapamba Bushcamp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
Perfect for Adventure, Birding, Hiking, Nature, Star Gazing, Wildlife

Kapamba Bushcamp sits on the bank of the Kapamba River, a shallow spring-fed channel that runs through some of the richest wildlife country in South Luangwa National Park. The camp holds four stone-and-thatch chalets: two with twin queen-sized beds, two with king-sized doubles. Each chalet has dark russet walls, oversized beds dressed in linen, copper accents, and a private verandah looking onto the river. The front of each chalet is fitted with folding wrought-iron latticework panels that open to give an uninterrupted view of the water — and at night, of the sky above it. Bathrooms have indoor showers that open to the outside.

Elephants come to drink and bathe in the river regularly, and you can watch them from a private plunge pool or from the raised main deck. The central bar and dining area sits beneath a canopy of matumi and sausage trees, the deck stretching out toward the river. Sundowners are served in the river itself — guests stand in the shallows with drinks in hand. Bush dinners are also run as part of a stay.

Activities include game drives, guided walking safaris, and birding. Laundry is handled by the camp at no additional charge. Of the Bushcamp Company's camps in the area, Kapamba runs the longest season, from April through to January.
