Karongwe - Chisomo Safari Camp
Canvas and thatch frame every view at Chisomo Safari Camp, set within a fifteen-thousand-hectare private concession in the Greater Kruger region. Twenty-two tented suites open onto the surrounding bush, each furnished with a king-sized bed beneath mosquito netting, leather armchairs, teak accents, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Suites stand beneath individual thatched roofs that filter midday heat and soften the sound of rain.

Two bomas anchor the camp. One sits at the centre near the main lodge; the other lies closer to the river. Both host dinners beneath open sky, firelight reflected in polished glassware and the low hum of night insects audible between courses. The main lodge holds a bar, communal dining area, library, and pool shaded by fever trees. A spa offers massage treatments in a separate pavilion.

Twice-daily game drives depart in open vehicles, led by a ranger and tracker. Six rivers cross the reserve, creating corridors that draw elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, and leopard year-round. The reserve is recognised within the Greater Kruger for consistent leopard sightings, particularly along drainage lines and beneath riverine canopy. Guided walks track animals on foot. A photographic hide sits at water level for close observation. Off-site excursions include helicopter flights over the Blyde River Canyon, full-day trips into Kruger National Park, and visits to Moholoholo Rescue Centre, where injured raptors and mammals are rehabilitated. The Little Paws Programme offers tracker lessons, cookie baking, and bush crafts for children under twelve.
