Kashana Namibia

Painted ochre and cream, the main building rises two storeys above the courtyard, its façade restored to the lines it held in 1907 when German colonial authorities built it as a casino for workers at nearby mines. The restaurant, bar, and offices occupy this structure; fifteen newly built rooms stretch behind it along the bank of the Omaruru River. Rooms come as luxury chalets, standard rooms, or a family chalet. Luxury chalets have thatched roofs, air-conditioning, and either a king bed or two doubles; en-suite showers, a minibar, television, safe, and internet access are standard. Standard rooms add a separate lounge and share a verandah near the pool. The family chalet places two singles in an upstairs loft and a double on the ground floor.

A swimming pool sits under a traditional lapa. The courtyard shelters the Nawa-Nawa Art Centre, a gallery that sells art, furniture, and sculpture made from recycled materials; a florist and hair salon also trade from the courtyard. The à-la-carte restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner to guests and walk-ins. Staff speak English and Afrikaans. Secure parking is provided. Omaruru lies in the Erongo region in central Namibia.
