Koro Island Camp

Koro Island Camp sits on a small island in the Limpopo River inside the Central Tuli Block. The only way onto the island is across a suspension bridge, which puts the main river channel in view from the moment you arrive. The camp runs entirely off-grid on gas and paraffin.

The camp holds eight guests across four en-suite Meru tents, each positioned to look out over the Limpopo. The sleeping tents are spacious, with comfortable beds and storage; the bathroom for each tent is open-air and built behind the tent, fitted with a bathtub. Meals are served in a thatched communal area, and the campfire outside handles dinner in the evenings. A raised deck overlooks the main channel.

Activities run twice daily: game drives in modified vehicles, guided walks and big game tracking on foot, night drives, and cycling — electric bikes are available on request. The river frontage is good for birding. An elevated platform at a waterhole, called StarBeds, is bookable for nights spent watching elephant, leopard, hyena, and antelope come to drink.

A field research programme studying leopards and brown hyenas in the Tuli is based here, and guests can join monitoring work in the field with the lead researcher. Half-day excursions reach a sandstone amphitheatre on the Moutlotse River where rock art depicts elephant, giraffe, sable, wild dog, and aardvark. A spa visit at the nearby Koro River Camp can be arranged.
