Lahia Tented Lodge

Opened by Tanganyika Wilderness Camps, Lahia Tented Lodge was positioned on a hilltop in central Serengeti to track the migration through the Western Corridor. The 25 tents sit on raised timber platforms above the plains, giving unobstructed sightlines towards the Grumeti River and the Maasai kopjes. Thirteen suite tents hold king or twin beds; six family rooms link two interconnected spaces. Each tent includes an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and basin, and an outdoor shower open to the sky. Solar panels provide power, backed by generator. A central building at the summit holds a 360-degree view across the landscape. The main lounge and restaurant occupy this structure, furnished in what the lodge calls a modern African style with locally sourced materials and traditional art. A swimming pool lies on the outdoor terrace. Wi-Fi reaches the central areas.

Game drives depart for the Seronera valley and the river crossings at Grumeti, where wildebeest and zebra concentrate during the migration months. Rangers lead routes to the Maasai kopjes and the Olduvai Gorge museum. Hot-air balloon flights lift before dawn, weather permitting, with bush breakfast served after landing. In the evenings a campfire is lit on the hillside. Dinners are set outdoors under the stars when conditions allow. The lodge supports de-snaring patrols in the Western Corridor through a contribution per guest night, part of a wider conservation partnership with the Serengeti National Park authorities.
